I like this one because the focus is on the older man in the middle, and as your eye travels in ad out of the picture, the other figures are less and less in focus. I think it gives the photo depth and 3 dimensionality.

I think the lighting in this photo is very interesting. The girl on the left is highlighted and picked out of the rest of the image. I also like her expression - its so confident and sort of uncaring. You almost forget that she's so young.

I like this picture because it represents one moment and really captures the character of all of the women in this photograph. It is very organized and symmetric, but unstaged at the same time. Its an interesting combination of order and disorder.

These pictures are really, really great. I love the one of the girl with the cigarette. At first glance I thought she was in her 20's, but then I realized she's maybe 12 or so. Her posture is a very mature one that makes her seem years older than she really is.
Wow. The photo of the little girl with the cigarette is awesome. The comment before mentioned "I thought she was in her 20's," and so did I...but thinking about it on a more 'symbolic level', maybe she is. Maybe this girl with the cigarette is symbolic of older women who really are just little girls on the inside, and not the mature adult people see on the exterior.
I also love Avedon's work. Again, the picture of the girl is really striking. She exudes all the confidence of a full grown woman, but she's just a little girl. You can't really tell if she's just a mature person or putting on a front to look cool.

I love the picture of the girl with the cigarette... She is so young but appears hardened by her surroundings but still innocent in a sad kind of way, like she wants help but her life has been anything but people caring about her
