"Spring" is by Loretta Lux, a photographer who is known for her surreal portraits of children. She uses photo-shop to alter her photographs, in order to make the subject seem less realistic and almost plastic-like. She also modifies and shifts the perspective of the foreground and the background, which I find very interesting. The great thing about photography is that it can not only document and display things the way they are but it is also extremely deceptive. With the help of the computer technology we have now, it is easy to dupe the audience. The thing I love about Lux's work is that she doesn't go overboard with photo-shop, leaving the perfect balance between the natural state of the subject in the photograph and intricate technology.
